Privacy Policy

StudyPrime (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is an AI-powered educational platform designed for students and educators. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

StudyPrime is intended for use by students and staff at Prince William County Schools and similar educational institutions. We take student privacy seriously and comply with applicable laws including FERPA and COPPA.

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information — your name, email address, and school domain, provided when you sign up or log in via Google.
• Chat messages — the questions and messages you send to the AI assistant. These are stored to maintain your conversation history.
• Uploaded files — documents (PDF, Word, Excel, CSV) you upload for AI analysis. File content is processed and stored to power features like note generation and quiz creation.
• Generated content — study guides, quizzes, flashcards, and summaries produced from your uploaded documents.
• Usage data — basic information about how you use the platform, such as which features you access, used to improve the product.

• To provide and operate the StudyPrime service.
• To generate AI responses and educational materials from your content.
• To maintain your conversation history and document library.
• To send important account and service notifications.
• To improve the platform and AI quality over time.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.

StudyPrime uses the following third-party services to operate:

• Supabase — database and authentication infrastructure. Your data is stored in Supabase's cloud database.
• OpenAI — AI language model used to generate responses and educational content. Your chat messages and document text are sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI's data usage policies apply.
• Google OAuth — used for single sign-on. We receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google when you sign in.

If you are a student at a K-12 institution, your educational records are protected under FERPA. StudyPrime does not share student educational data with third parties for commercial purposes. Uploaded documents and chat conversations are treated as private and are accessible only to you (and, for flagged messages, to your assigned teacher or administrator).

Teachers using the platform can view messages that the AI has flagged as potential academic integrity concerns (e.g., requests for help with tests or quizzes). They do not have access to your full conversation history.

We retain your account data and content for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from your account settings, which will permanently remove your profile, conversations, and uploaded files. Some data may be retained in backups for up to 30 days after deletion.

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS), row-level security on our database, and access controls to protect your data. No system is 100% secure; please use a strong password and do not share your login credentials.

StudyPrime may be used by students under 13 in a school context, in compliance with COPPA. Parental consent is obtained through the school's institutional agreement with StudyPrime. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 outside of a school context.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Delete your account and associated data.
• Object to certain uses of your data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the “last updated” date above. Continued use of StudyPrime after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
